: Flora : So Glad

When I was growing up, my parents had gladiolus plants outside the house and they were my favorite flower. The irises were, of course, spectacular, too; but they kept falling over from the weight of their blooms. The glads, now, they were always straight-stalked and cheerfully bright. I love the combination of the strong stalk and the delicately-ruffled flower.

This was taken at a garden patch on NMSU campus. I pass by this patch every day. In the Summer the gladiolus are in bloom, and I often get waylaid by them and have to stop and admire them. It's a little worrisome that I can't go past the flowers without taking pictures.
