Photography : Astronomy : Totality 2010

It seems whenever there is a lunar eclipse, my area is immediately blanketed by clouds. December, 2010, proved to be an exception to this rule. We opened up the Tombaugh Observatory to ogle the Moon to the best of our abilities. It was bitterly cold (even with the hot chocolate) but we stayed there past totality around 1:30am. Since my camera has a night mode, I indulged my curiosity and took pictures of the Moon in infrared around the time of totality (bottom images). Night Mode is normally grainy and it doesn't have the full zoom capability, so the image is even granier. Still, you can make out the maria!
