The WYNN telescopes watch the drama as sunlight breaks through the clouds while a massive storm rages beyond the light. This is what happens when one observes at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona during the Southwest's rainy season, known to locals as "monsoon season". During the rest of the year the weather is perfectly fine. Why would anyone observe during the rainy season? The object I wanted to observe got the highest above the horizon during monsoon season, so I had to. In fact, I got great data the two nights the telescopes were open.
