Photography : Astronomy : My Telescope for the Next Week My first solo observing run was on the 2m at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona. I was granted 11 days on the telescope! The reason I got so much time is that it was during the Southwest's rainy period and also the technicians disliked frequently changing the camera attached to the telescope. Why would I observe during monsoon season? That was the only time my object was highest above the horizon. I managed to get some fantastic data on it, in spite of the weather! The mirror itself is beneath the pyramid-like mirror cover. The white screen on the side of the dome is used to calibrate the camera.
